I love Greek food and many of you know that I love to go to the Oakland Greek Festival every May. The food is always amazing and the people who host this festival are the best. It really is a very fun experience and I recommend you all go (or to wherever your local Greek festival is held). This year the Oakland festival will not be in May (sigh) but in October. Here is a burger that is super yummy and offers a chance to sop up delicious tzatziki with your bread of choice.
Serves 4
Ingredients
1/2 lb ground lamb
1/2 lb ground chuck
1/4 cup finely chopped mint
2 teaspoons ground cumin
kosher salt
freshly ground black pepper
4 hamburger buns or pita
bowl of Super Simple Ttzatziki (see below)
2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
Preparation
Prepare grill to medium high heat.
Combine the lamb, beef, mint and cumin in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
Grill the patties, turning once, for about 4 minutes on each side for medium rare.
During the last few minutes, heat up the pita (or toast buns) on the grill, cut side down.
To assemble the burgers, on each bottom (pita or bun), place lettuce, then a patty. Cover with tzatiki and sprinkle with feta.
